Kevin Kilbane hailed Chelsea’s professional performance after the leaders restored their seven-point lead at the top thanks to Saturday evening’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth.

Tottenham managed to cut Chelsea’s advantage to four points at the top of the table thanks to the north London side’s impressive 4-0 win against Watford in the day’s early kick-off at White Hart Lane.

However, Chelsea showed no signs of feeling the pressure in the title race after Adam Smith scored a 20th-minute own goal to break the deadlock before Eden Hazard netted a stylish goal three minutes later.

Joshua King halved the deficit before half-time to offer Bournemouth hope of a comeback but Marcos Alonso whipped a delicious free-kick past Artur Boruc to seal three points for the visitors.

Chelsea are seven points clear of Tottenham with seven games to go after their 3-1 victory over the Cherries.

And former Republic of Ireland international Kilbane was full of praise for Chelsea after a professional display at Vitality Stadium.

“Chelsea were under a certain amount of pressure with what Tottenham had done,” Kilbane told NBCSN.

“Chelsea had to come to Bournemouth with the mindset of setting down a marker. It is a difficult thing to do when Tottenham have won in the morning. But Chelsea have been so professional.”
