Frank Lampard has explained how Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has become the best player in the Premier League.

The Belgium international scored Chelsea’s second goal in a 3-1 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.

Hazard has scored three goals in his past two Premier League games as the Chelsea number 10 helped the west London side get back on course in the title race following a setback against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Indeed, the 26-year-old has netted 14 times and has made five assists in 29 games in the 2016-17 campaign to help Antonio Conte’s move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Lampard played alongside Hazard after the Belgian forward moved to the west London outfit from Ligue 1 side Lille back in the 2012 summer transfer window.

The retired England midfielder won the FA Cup and the Europa League alongside Hazard before moving to Manchester City in 2014.

And Lampard believes Hazard has developed into a world-class player over the past couple of seasons at Chelsea.

“Eden Hazard is the best player in the league for me at the moment. I’ve seen a new maturity from him this year. Not just on the pithc, off the pitch,” Lampard told Goals on Sunday.

“He’s doing more interviews, speaking English, those things are important. When you become the level he’s at, he’s captained Belgium a couple times.

“There were times last year when he was so confident in his ability he would beat players twice. Now there is a directness to his play.”
