Gary Lineker hailed Harry Kane’s brilliant header in Tottenham’s 4-2 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Tottenham were looking to beat their title rivals Chelsea and reach their first FA Cup final since 1991 when Spurs won the competition thanks to a 2-1 win against Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest.

Match Of The Day host Lineker started in that final although the England legend failed to get on the score sheet despite his prolific record for the north London club.

Tottenham’s leading goal-scorer Kane levelled up the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday evening with a deft header in the 15th minute to cancel out Willian’s free-kick.

And Lineker took to Twitter to lavish praise on Kane following the England international’s fourth goal in the FA Cup this season.

Lineker wrote on the social media site:

“Harry Kane with a brilliantly guided header equalises for Spurs. If you’ve forgotten, it’s on @BBCOne now and it’s tasty.

Willian restored Chelsea’s lead after Kane’s equaliser from the penalty spot before Dele Alli levelled again.

Substitute Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic scored late goals to seal a 4-2 win.

Kane has scored 20 goals in 23 appearances in the Premier League this season.
