Gary Lineker reacts to Pedro’s wonder goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Everton on Twitter
The Match Of The Day hosts hails a special goal from Pedro Rodriguez to decide the clash between Everton and Chelsea on Sunday afternoon
Gary Lineker suggested that Pedro Rodriguez’s special goal in a 3-0 win at Everton could be enough to secure the Premier League title for Chelsea.
The Blues were forced to dig deep in the second half after failing to make the breakthrough on Merseyside in the opening 45 minutes at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Pedro, though, broke the deadlock with a brilliant curling left-footed shot from outside the area to beat Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in the 66th minute.
England international Gary Cahill scored in second successive Premier League game with a close-range finish after a scramble from a set-piece in the 79th minute.
Substitute Willian came off the bench to wrap up three points after the Brazil international completed a stunning passing move from the Premier League leaders.
Match Of The Day host Lineker made the claim that Pedro’s sensational opener could prove to be the goal that effectively secured second title in three seasons.
Lineker wrote: “Sometimes it takes something truly special to clinch a title. We may have just seen exactly that from Pedro. Stunning goal.”
Conte took over the reins of Chelsea back at the end of the 2015-16 season.
