Harry Redknapp: What Eden Hazard brings to Chelsea
The former Spurs manager heaps praise on Chelsea winger Eden Hazard
Harry Redknapp has praised Eden Hazard’s role in the Chelsea team as Antonio Conte’s close in on the Premier League title.
The Belgium international continued his goal-scoring form on Saturday evening after Hazard doubled Chelsea’s lead following Adam Smith’s own goal at the Vitality Stadium.
Chelsea eased to a 3-1 thanks to Marcos Alonso’s superb free-kick in the second half and the Blues are now seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur with seven games to go.
Hazard has scored 14 times and has made five assists in 29 appearances in the Premier League in the 2016-17 season so far.
Speaking to BT Sport about Hazard’s role in the Chelsea team, former Spurs manager Redknapp hailed the number 10 as a “special player”.
“They’re a very, very solid team. They’ve got flair in Eden Hazard,” Redknapp said. He gives them the flair and he’s special, special player. But they’ve got a solid balance about them. They give nothing away and they’re difficult to beat. They’re the best team in the league this season, with Tottenham close behind. There’s no doubt about that.”
Hazard won the PFA Premier League player of the year award back in 2015 thanks to impressive performances in Chelsea’s title-winning team.
The Belgian forward netted 14 times in 38 games to lift the English top-flight crown in 2014-15.
Chelsea will make the trip to Manchester United in their next Premier League game.
