Henrikh Mkhitaryan lifts the lid on his Man United dream
Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits that it was always his childhood dream to play for a club like Manchester United
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that it was childhood dream to play for a club of Manchester United’s stature.
The Armenia playmaker has been in fine form for the Red Devils in recent weeks after initially struggling to make much of an impact at Old Trafford following his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Mkhitaryan scored his eighth goal of the season in all competitions on Sunday afternoon when helped Manchester United seal a 3-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League.
The playmaker has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising attacking talents – but the midfielder has revealed that his journey to success was not an easy one.
In an interview with Inside United, Mkhitaryan explained how he broke down in tears as a child when he was told “football would not exist for me anymore.”
He also went on to explain how he has finally realised his long-term dream of playing for one of the world’s top clubs.
Mkhitaryan said: “I had a dream to play for one of the best football clubs in the world. And that is what I am doing now.”
Manchester United will take on Anderlecht in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie in Belgium on Thursday night.
