Jamie Carragher states his prediction for Liverpool v Bournemouth

Jamie Carragher is backing Liverpool to continue their push towards a top-four finish by beating Bournemouth at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds continued their recent good form with a relatively comfortable 3-1 win over Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash at Anfield.

That victory allowed Liverpool to close the gap to leaders Chelsea down to 10 points after the Blues suffered a shock defeat by Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge later in the day.

Liverpool now turn their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash against Eddie Howe’s side at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Former Reds defender Carragher concedes that Liverpool have struggled against the so-called lesser teams this season but is confident that the Reds can take all three points next week,

Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday afternoon, Carragher said: “It’s a great chance for them, Bournemouth at home – and it’s game you’d expect Liverpool to win.

“We know they’ve had problems in these types of games… in the reverse fixture the wheels fell off and it started that bad run.

“But if Liverpool can get points on the board the other teams will drop points.”
