Jose Mourinho has confirmed that David De Gea suffered a little injury during Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Sunderland ahead of next weekend’s home clash against Chelsea.

The Manchester United shot stopper didn’t feature at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon as Mourinho brought in Sergio Romero in the absence of Spain’s number one.

The Red Devils eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sunderland thanks to goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford on Sunday afternoon.

Mourinho’s men will be looking to keep their top-four hopes alive next weekend when Manchester United host Premier League leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford.

While the Red Devils boss confirmed that Romero will start against Anderlecht in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night, Mourinho confirmed De Gea’s problem isn’t serious ahead of the visit of Chelsea next weekend.

It’s a little De Gea injury. It’s not a big problem. When he dives to one side he feels a little bit but Romero is very good and very solid and Romero goes again to play in the Europa League,” Mourinho told BBC Sport.
