Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is worried Roberto Firmino could burnout as Liverpool continue to rely on the Brazil international.

The South American scored Liverpool’s first-half winner at the end of the first half as the Merseyside outfit eased to a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Firmino’s headed goal was his second winner in successive Premier League games after a 2-1 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium earlier this month.

Only Nathaniel Clyne and Georginio Wijnaldum have started more games than Firmino this season, with the Brazilian netting 11 goals and making six assists in 31 appearances.

Liverpool will host Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to wrap up a top-four finish and a long-awaited return to the Champions League.

And Klopp has admitted that Firmino is a doubt for the visit of Palace as the Liverpool manager looks to assess the fitness of his ever-present Brazilian forward.

“It’s been a very difficult week, with Roberto especially because we really need to be careful with him,” Klopp is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

“He’s our all-time player, he plays nearly each game. I think we did well with it in the week and having him back together with Phil [Coutinho], of course, is very important for us.”
