Wenger provides latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Middlesbrough trip
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest Arsenal team news ahead of Monday's Premier League trip to Middlesbrough
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal are hoping to welcome Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny back into the squad for Monday’s trip to Middlesbrough in the Premier League.
Cech has been missing for a number of games, and Koscielny has not featured since his was forced off at half-time during the 2-2 draw with Manchester City at The Emirates.
However, the Gunners are hopeful of having both players available for selection for Monday’s top-flight clash.
Wenger also revealed that goalkeeper David Ospina and striker Lucas Perez remain sidelined.
Wenger told a news conference at London Colney on Friday morning: “From the last game, I believe that we have a chance of getting Petr Cech back in the squad. Laurent Koscielny is joining in today [Friday].
“If their tests are positive, they will come back into the squad for Monday’s game.”
Asked about the pair’s chances of featuring against Middlesbrough on Monday night, Wenger replied: “Eighty per cent. At the moment it’s pretty good, but sometimes the 20 per cent can play a villain’s part in the final preparation.”
On Perez and Ospina, he added: “Ospina and Perez are still out.”
Arsenal head into the game desperately looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace last week.
That result meant that the north London side have now won just two of their last eight games in the Premier League and left them sixth in the top-flight table.
