Mesut Ozil has lifted the lid on his goal celebration during Arsenal’s 3-0 win against West Ham United on Wednesday night.

The Germany international has been facing criticism of his performances in the 2016-17 season as Ozil’s struggles mirror Arsenal’s disappointing results.

The north London side were winless in three Premier League games before the visit of the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium mid-week.

Indeed, Arsenal managed to give their ailing confidence a boost with a 3-0 win and Ozil was responsible for breaking the deadlock.

The £42.5m club-record signing broke the deadlock with a curled effort from outside the penalty area in the second half.

And Ozil made a gesture following his sixth goal of the 2016-17 season which may have left some Arsenal fans confused.

However, the World Cup winner has now taken to Instagram to unveil what his celebration was about.

Ozil has scored six goals and has made six assists in 24 games in the Premier League this season.
