Martin Keown predicts where Arsenal will finish this season
The former Arsenal defender doesn't believe the Gunners will finish in the top four this season
Martin Keown has warned Arsene Wenger that Arsenal will find it very difficult to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
The Gunners eased to a 1-0 win against defending champions Leicester City on Wednesday night after Robert Huth’s own goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal moved to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
The north London side haven’t missed out on a place in Europe’s premier club competition since Wenger took over the reins at the club in 1996.
However, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League table as the quartet look to battle it out for the final two Champions League spots.
Writing in his Daily Mail column about Arsenal’s prospects in the top-four race, retired England defender Keown said: “I still feel it is a massive ask.
“I think the top four will stay as they are for the rest of the season. Even if Manchester United win tonight they have tricky fixtures against Tottenham and Arsenal to come. Arsenal still have games in hand but I would sooner be in Liverpool’s position with only four games to go.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
