Pundit sends warning to Arsenal about Tottenham ahead of derby clash
Niall Quinn warns Arsenal that Tottenham Hotspur are forcing a shift in power in north London ahead of their derby meeting
Niall Quinn has warned Arsenal that Tottenham Hotspur could cement the shift in power in north London in the derby on 30 April.
Spurs were 4-0 winners against Watford in the Premier League’s early kick-off at White Hart Lane thanks to goals from Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Eric Dier.
Tottenham are in second place in the table and 14 points ahead of Arsenal as Mauricio Pochettino looks to become the first Spurs manager to guide the club to a finish above their bitter derby rivals in the table.
Indeed, the Lilywhites threatened to secure second spot ahead of Arsene Wenger’s men last season before a 5-1 loss at Newcastle United on the final day of the campaign allowed Arsenal to hoist themselves above Spurs.
The Gunners have lost their last four Premier League games on the road to leave Wenger’s side well off the pace in the top-four race with eight games to go.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the north London derby at White Hart Lane at the end of April, former Arsenal striker Quinn said:
“This could really rubber stamp and nail down Tottenham’s superiority over Arsenal that’s been coming over last period of time.
“If it wrecked Arsenal’s top-four hopes, it would be a double whammy. There has been a shift in power in north London over the past couple of years.”
