Rio Ferdinand opens up about Arsenal: This has changed
Rio Ferdinand praises Arsenal's strength of character after their 2-1 FA Cup win over Manchester City
Rio Ferdinand praised Arsenal’s players for stepping their game up in their FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The north London side earned plenty of praise for their battling performance as they came from a goal down to beat the Citizens at Wembley in the last-four encounter at Wembley.
Goals from Nacho Monreal and Alexis Sanchez wrapped up a 2-1 win for Arsene Wenger’s men after extra-time as the Gunners boosted their hopes of finishing the season with a trophy.
The win was a welcome relief for Arsenal fans, who have had to watch their team struggle for form since the turn of the year.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was impressed by what he saw from Arsenal’s players against Pep Guardiola’s men at the weekend.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “Arsenal worked hard, they’ve got quality all over the pitch and first and foremost, they showed the work-ethic and the battle to win the game.
“On far too many occasions you see them and think they’re a soft touch, that they can’t go away to certain grounds and win. That’s what changed [against City].”
Arsenal are now preparing for their Premier League clash against Leicester City at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
