Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is convinced Alexis Sanchez will sign a new contract and stay at Arsenal.

The Chilean’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 18 months of their contracts at The Emirates.

Sanchez’s current deal at Arsenal is set to expire at the end of next season and it remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will sign a new contract with The Gunners.

However, Arsenal boss Wenger has insisted that he is fully expecting to see Sanchez commit his future to the north London side by penning a new contract before his current deal runs out.

Wenger told a news conference at London Colney before Wednesday’s clash with Leicester: “I personally think he will sign and stay here.

“First of all he is happy here. His desire is as well to stay. That is what I deeply believe.

“The disagreements are more purely contractual. Not on the desire. Both parties have the desire to find an agreement, so I think it will happen.”

Arsenal will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley as the Gunners look to end what has been a disappointing Premier League season on a high.
