Pundit: Midfielder has an Arsenal future, Arsene Wenger needs him
Kevin Kilbane believes Arsenal could use Jack Wilshere to bolster their midfield options next season
Jack Wilshere would bring something different to the Arsenal midfield, according to Kevin Kilbane.
The England international moved to Bournemouth on a season-long loan at the start of the 2016-17 season in search of regular first-team football following an injury-hit spell.
Wilshere has performed well in Eddie Howe’s first-team as the 25-year-old formed an impressive midfield partnership with Republic of Ireland international Harry Arter for the Cherries.
The Arsenal star has made 22 appearances in the Premier League for the south coast club, making two assists for his team-mates but failing to get a goal in a Cherries shirt so far.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have struggled to perform in the Champions League and the Premier League this season in the absence of injured Santi Cazorla and on-loan Wilshere.
Former Everton and Republic of Ireland defender Kilbane believes Wilshere could have a future at Arsenal when the midfielder’s loan spell comes to an end in the summer.
“Wilshere has got better and better,” Kilbane told NBCSN.
“Arsenal don’t have a player of his type. He can bring something to Arsenal’s side. He has been better suited when he has played along Harry Arter as well.”
Arsenal will take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
