Lee Dixon: What really impressed me about Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea’s 4-2 win
The former Arsenal defender hails Cesc Fabregas' performance in Chelsea's 4-2 win against Southampton on Tuesday night
Lee Dixon hailed Cesc Fabregas’ perfect performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Southampton on Tuesday night.
The Spain international missed out on a place in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up for their recent games against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Fabregas repaid his manager’s faith on Tuesday night with a mesmerising performance in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield to get their title bid back on track.
The former Arsenal captain provided the cross which led to Gary Cahill’s goal on the stroke of half-time in the Premier League clash.
Fabregas was the architect of Chelsea’s third goal when the midfielder found Diego Costa in the penalty area and the striker powered a header past Fraser Forster.
The 29-year-old was substituted in the 74th minute after he finished with a pass completion of 90 per cent in the 4-2 win against the Saints.
Former Arsenal defender Dixon lavished praise on Fabregas for his influential performance in Chelsea’s win.
“He did his job. He performed that link between the forwards and the midfield really well,” Dixon told NBC.
:”It was a great ball in the box for Costa’s role. It was the perfect game for him to sit in that space behind the front man.”
Fabregas is looking to win his second Premier League title with Chelsea.
