Eden Hazard sends message to Chelsea about title race
The Chelsea forward admits that Antonio Conte's side are nearly over the line in the Premier League title race
Eden Hazard believes Chelsea are nearly over the line in the title race.
The Premier League leaders were looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to strugglers Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea made the breakthrough in the eighth minute on Wednesday night as the west London side hosted top-four rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard’s deflected strike was cancelled out when Thibaut Courtois’s erratic pass found the feet of David Silva and led to Sergio Aguero’s equaliser.
However, the Belgian forward restored the home side’s lead with a close-range finish after his initial spot-kick effort was saved.
Chelsea are seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the title race following the north London side’s thrilling 3-1 win against Swansea City.
Speaking to BT Sport about how Chelsea are fixed with eight games to go in the title race, Hazard urged his team-mates to keep working hard.
“We are nearly there but there is a long way to go. We have some difficult games. We prepare every week to be ready for the games. We will be ready until the end,” Hazard said.
Chelsea will make the trip to Bournemouth in their next Premier League game on Saturday evening.
