Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Antonio Conte for transforming Chelsea into Premier League title favourites this season.

The Italian coach took over the reins at Stamford Bridge at the end of a disastrous 2015-16 season for the west London side which culminated in a tenth-place finish in the table.

The Chelsea manager signed five players in the summer transfer window with Marcos Alonso, N’Golo Kante and David Luiz proving to be vital acquisitions.

Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation after Chelsea lost to Liverpool and Arsenal in successive Premier League games back in September.

And Chelsea haven’t looked back since their tactical change after losing only two games in 25 games in the Premier League since their 3-0 loss at Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Conte’s impact at Chelsea in his first season in the Premier League, former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Redknapp said:

“This will be the first time a team has won the Premier League with three at the back and Antonio Conte has done a brilliant job making it work.

“He realised quickly where the talent was in the squad, he maximised it and they’re the team to beat.”
