Jamie Redknapp: Chelsea star isn’t a sexy player but he reminds me of three legends
Jamie Redknapp lavishes praise on N'Golo Kante following his sparkling displays for Chelsea this season
Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on N’Golo Kante following his sparkling form for Chelsea this season.
The midfielder has been one of the Premier League’s top performing players this season and has been rewarded for his fine form by being voted as the PFA player of the year by his fellow peers.
Kante helped Leicester City win the Premier League title last season before joining Chelsea in last summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old France star has been a regular fixture in the Blues team this season and has helped Chelsea top the Premier League title and reach the FA Cup final.
And former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp has heaped praise on Kante, claiming that he reminds him of Premier League legends Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira and Claude Makelele.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Tuesday night, Redknapp said: “Was he a worthy winner [of the PFA award]? Absolutely.
“He’s not a sexy player, he’s not an Eden Hazard or a skillful player. But if you’re talking about great defensive midfield players, he’s Keane, Makelele and Vieira all rolled into one.
“He’s a special talent and it’s so good to see him be rewarded by his peers. What a year he’s had, he’s an incredible player.”
Kante will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.
