Pat Nevin has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Chelsea can still afford to drop points in the Premier League title race.

Spurs moved to within four points of the Premier League leaders after Tottenham were 4-0 winners against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Chelsea lost 2-0 to their former manager Jose Mourinho and Manchester Untied at Old Trafford following goals from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera.

Ironically, the title rivals will face each other in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday evening before returning to Premier League action next week.

Chelsea will host Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night before Tottenham make the short trip to Crystal Palace next Wednesday.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website about the title race, Nevin warned Mauricio Pochettino that Tottenham can’t afford to drop any points in the final games of the season, adding that Chelsea still have a cushion.

“Can Spurs keep up their incredible run and what will happen if they have an off day over the next few weeks? Remember Chelsea can still afford to drop a few more points, Spurs cannot,” Nevin said.

“Now that is real pressure and they have not really felt it yet, but they almost certainly will at some point between now and the end of the campaign.”
