Ian Wright has warned Chelsea that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will have a point to prove to the Premier League leaders at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Belgium international is the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer ahead of Diego Costa and Harry Kane after a return of 24 goals in 32 games in the 2016-17 campaign.

Lukaku moved to Everton in a 27m deal from Chelsea in the 2013 summer transfer window after Jose Mourinho failed to guarantee the powerful striker regular first-team football.

Ironically, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move to re-sign Lukaku at the end of the season amid uncertainty about Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge.

And the former Arsenal striker Wright is backing Lukaku to put on a show against his potential suitors at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

“Lukaku will want to impress them. He will want to show why he is the top goal scorer in the Premier League and what’s got him there,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
