Michael Keane will cost potential suitors as much as £35m in the summer transfer window, Danny Higginbotham has warned.

The Burnley defender has been one of Sean Dyche’s best players upon their return to the Premier League this season.

Indeed, Keane has helped Burnley to keep an impressive record at Turf Moor, which has proven vital in all but securing their top-flight status.

Keane’s performance received national recognition after England manager Gareth Southgate handed the former Manchester United defender his first cap last month.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move to re-sign the defender in the summer transfer window, while Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool are also thought to be interested in the centre-half.

Former Stoke City and Southampton defender Higginbotham has warned Keane’s potential suitors that they may have to cough up £35m to secure the defender’s signature given his rise and rise in stature.

“At the start of the season, you probably would have said £20m,” Higginbotham told Sky Sports News HQ.

“But the performances he has had this season and being called up to the england squad as well, you’ve got to be talking £30m plus. Manchester United have 25% sell on as well.

“Burnley will want to get as much as possible. You could be looking £30-35m for him.”
