Didier Drogba has hinted that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku could be set to return to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top goal-scorers since his move to Goodison Park from Chelsea in 2013.

Indeed, Lukaku opted to complete a £27m move to Everton after Jose Mourinho failed to guarantee the striker regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old has scored a staggering 23 goals in 30 games in the Premier League this season – more than any other player in the English top flight.

Lukaku failed to score a goal in his first spell at Chelsea but Antonio Conte has been linked with a big-money move to sign the former Blues forward.

Now, Chelsea legend Drogba has claimed that he has the inside line on Lukaku’s plans this summer, hinting that the striker is set to return to west London.

“If he comes to Chelsea it will be great for the club,” Drogba told Sky Sports.

“He knows the house already and I think he wants to prove he can be successful here, he didn’t get the chance to do it.

“Chelsea is his club since he was young, so why not?

“He wants to be the best. He’s really working hard to become the best.

“I am always challenging him. When he scores one goal, I expect him to score two. We have a very good relationship.

“I think he’s my little brother. He’s a really good guy. He’s a very good player, but also a great man.”
