Jamie Redknapp has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea will struggle to find a suitable replacement for Diego Costa.

The Spain international has scored twice in the second half of Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Costa has scored 19 goals and has made six assists in 31 appearances in the 2016-17 Premier League season.

The Chelsea striker has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign.

The west London side have been linked with a move to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.

However, former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Redknapp believes Chelsea will find it very difficult to unearth a suitable replacement for Costa.

Redknapp told Sky Sports:

“It will be very difficult to find a player who is so physically strong but possesses such lovely natural ability with the ball at his feet. He looks like he can do anything once he gets it.

“He gives you the option to play direct. You can play it into his feet. He is a midfielder’s dream because he is always looking to play one-twos. He is a throwback centre-forward.”

Costa is on the brink of winning his second Premier League title in three seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea signed the controversial centre-forward in a £27m deal from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid back in 2014 summer transfer window.
