Ray Wilkins is confident that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be able to convince world-class Eden Hazard to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea forward has been a vital cog in Antonio Conte’s side in the 2016-17 season to help the west London side move four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Hazard has scored 14 times and has made five assists in 30 appearances in the Premier League to rediscover his best form under the former Juventus manager.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have been linked with a lucrative move to sign the Belgium international from the Premier League leaders at the end of the 2016-17 season.

But former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Wilkins isn’t too worried about Hazard’s future despite interest from the 11-time Champions League winners.

“Chelsea have got to be vying for the Champions League to keep hold of their best players and encourage players to join,” Wilkins told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I would imagine that Mr Abramovich will try extremely hard to keep hold of him for as long as he possibly can. He really is truly world-class.”
