Gary Neville sends ‘disturbing’ warning to Antonio Conte about Chelsea signings
The Manchester United legend believes Chelsea will need investment in new players this summer
Gary Neville has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea need new signings this summer to help his squad cope with injury problems next season.
The Blues were without Thibaut Courtois and Marcos Alonso for the trip to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea struggled in the absence of the duo as Manchester United eased to a comfortable 2-0 win against the Premier League leaders.
The west London side could be without Diego Costa, Courtois and Eden Hazard next season as the three Chelsea players continue to be linked with transfers away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Former Manchester United defender Neville spoke about his concerns for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.
“It’s disturbing moving forward for Chelsea,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“It’s a glimpse for next season if they are going to drop so far with one or two injuries. They do need to strengthen that squad in the summer.”
Chelsea are four points clear of their closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race after Spurs were 4-0 winners against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The north London side finished in third place last term after challenging Leicester City for the title for most of the campaign.
