Stuart Pearce believes Arsenal will be looking to secure a transfer fee in the region of £70m for Alexis Sanchez.

Chelsea are reported to have made the Chile international their number one priority ahead of the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte looks to bolster their attacking options.

Sanchez’s future has been a source of relentless speculation throughout the 2016-17 season after the South American failed to agree a new deal with the north London side.

The 28-year-old striker has still managed to score 18 times and make nine assists in 28 games in the Premier League this season despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Arsene Wenger has stated his belief that Sanchez will remain at the Gunners, while the forward has reiterated his plans to see out his current Arsenal deal which expires at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about Sanchez’s potential transfer fee, former Manchester City manager Pearce suggested that Arsenal could hold out for a price of £70m.

“If I was Arsenal, how much he has got left on his contract would be irrelevant,” Pearce said.

“If someone is knocking on our door and trying to buy our best player, as in Arsenal’s case, he’s still worth the same as if he had four years left on his contract. I’d demand between £50m to £70m.”
