Martin Keown: The difference between reported Chelsea, Man United target and Thierry Henry
The former Arsenal defender believes Kylian Mbappe could prove to be a better goal-scorer than Thierry Henry
Martin Keown believes Kylian Mbappe has a greater range of finishing than Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
The Monaco striker has established himself as one of the most-exciting prospects in European football thanks to his performances in the Champions League this season.
Mbappe scored in both legs of Monaco’s win against Premier League side Manchester City in the Champions League last 16 last month.
The 18-year-old continued his stunning form on the continent with a brace in Monaco’s 3-2 win against Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months given his excellent form.
Former Arsenal defender Keown discussed the difference between Mbappe and his old team-mate Henry.
“Mbappe is ruthless. His finish last night was emphatic. Henry liked that textbook finish into the corner but I feel Mbappe may have an even greater range to his finishing,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Henry was used sparingly in his early days at Monaco but they have kept Mbappe out there. It tells me that they are probably preparing to sell him.”
Manchester United signed Anthony Martial in a big-money deal from Ligue 1 side Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window.
Chelsea will make the trip to the Red Devils in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
