Jamie Redknapp believes Liverpool will finish in the top four this season if Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino can continue their talismanic form.

The Reds played out a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Anfield after Joshua King scored a late equaliser in the 87th minute of the Premier League clash.

Liverpool travelled to Stoke City in search of three points to keep their top-four bid on track with Arsenal and Manchester United on their coattails.

Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters broke the deadlock in the first half to leave Liverpool facing the prospect of another defeat against a bottom 12 side.

However, Jurgen Klopp turned to Coutinho and Firmino at half-time and the Brazilian duo helped to turn the Premier League clash on its head.

The Liverpool number 10 levelled with a close-range finish before Firmino netted a long-range volley to seal three points for the Merseyside club.

Speaking to the Daily Mail after Liverpool’s dramatic 2-1 win against Stoke City at the weekend, Redknapp said:

“We all know what Liverpool can do against their top-six rivals. It is when they face sides like Stoke that Jurgen Klopp’s side have faltered,” Redknapp said.

“I did not expect Liverpool to fight back and win on Saturday. They have been too nice at times this season. They are scintillating when all is well but when the going gets tough they have lacked character. That win will go some way to help Liverpool finish in the top four but it showed how reliant they are on Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

“When the Brazilian duo, and Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana, are fit Liverpool are unstoppable.”
