Pat Nevin has backed Liverpool to finish in the top four ahead of Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have managed to find their form in recent months to keep their top-four hopes alive thanks to their performances at Anfield.

Indeed, Liverpool have beaten Arsenal, Burnley, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in their last four games in front of their home supporters.

Saturday’s 3-1 win against Everton in the Merseyside derby helped Liverpool to further extend their advantage over Manchester United following the Red Devils’s 0-0 draw with West Brom.

Liverpool haven’t qualified for the Champions League since 2014 when Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers led Liverpool to a second-place finish.

Speaking to Irish radio station about the task facing Manchester United in the top-four race, former Chelsea and Everton winger Nevin said:

“You compare Manchester United’s run to Liverpool, oh dear, it’s not a good one.

“They’re still in the Europa League and they’ve got to put a lot of concentration into that.

“They’ve still got Chelsea, they’ve still got Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham away. It’s a big ask.”

Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season under Klopp following his appointment as their manager back in October 2015.

Manchester United sacked Louis van Gaal after a fifth-placed finish.
