Gary Neville offers advice to Jurgen Klopp about new Liverpool signings
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville says Liverpool need to sign better players in the summer transfer window
Gary Neville believes Jurgen Klopp needs to add some dominant players to his Liverpool squad in the summer transfer window.
The Reds boss is looking to guide his Merseyside club back into the Premier League’s top four in the 2016-17 season after a two-year absence.
Liverpool were 3-1 winners against Everton in the derby on Saturday afternoon to hoist Klopp’s side above Manchester City and into third place.
The 18-time English champions are six points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United in the top-four race, although the Red Devils have played two games less than their rivals.
Klopp signed seven players in last summer’s transfer window in an attempt to overhaul his squad ahead of his first full season in charge at Anfield.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about what signings Liverpool need to make in the summer transfer window, former Manchester United defender Neville said:
“They haven’t got great leaders on the pitch; there are no dominant characters.
“They have very good football players, they’re fantastic going forward, Liverpool. Particularly with that front six – when they’re all there they are breathtaking.
“Generally they’re not good enough or tough enough defensively as a team. The goalkeeper… they have to fix it with personnel – they’ve got to sign better players.”
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table and 10 points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
