Jamie Redknapp makes surprise suggestion for Liverpool signing
The former Liverpool midfielder claims that Jurgen Klopp needs a utility player like Son Heung-min
Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Liverpool need to sign a player like Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min in the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are in third place in the Premier League table and six points ahead fifth-placed Manchester United in the top-four race.
Liverpool came from 1-0 down to ease to a 2-1 win against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Philippe Coutinho levelled with a close-range finish before Roberto Fimrino netted a stunning volley from outside the area to secure three points.
Liverpool signed seven players in the summer transfer window but Klopp has struggled with injury problems throughout the season which has stretched his squad.
Former Reds midfielder Redknapp believes Liverpool need to recruit some back-up players who are capable of having an impact from the bench next season.
“What they need next season is a squad player like Son Heung-min who will nick a goal when the first-choice forwards are injured,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
Liverpool are six points clear of Manchester United in the race to secure a place in the top four, having played two games more than Jose Mourinho’s side.
