Jamie Redknapp says Liverpool are in need of strengthening in a number of positions this summer if the Reds secure a top-four finish.

Jurgen Klopp is on course to lead the Merseyside outfit into the Champions League by guiding them to a top-four spot in his first full season in charge at the club.

The Reds are bound to be linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window as Klopp begins to think about bolstering his squad ahead of next season.

Liverpool are currently preparing for their home Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

And former Liverpool star Redknapp feels that a top-four finish will be all but secure if the Reds are able to beat Sam Allardyce’s men at Anfield this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “If Liverpool can win this game [against Palace] I think they will go on and finish in the top four, then it ends up being a great season for them.

“It would be a big step forward and it would also help Klopp in terms of attracting players in the summer.

“When everybody’s fit, Liverpool have a great starting 11. They have proven that against the best sides. But they need to bolster their squad and that’s even more important if they are playing in the Champions League next season.

“Another centre-back will be a must, and while I expect Trent Alexander-Arnold to play for England in the next few years, they also need more support at full-back and possibly a new goalkeeper too.

“But there is a little bit of work to do before that. Right now, they need to focus on getting those three points against Crystal Palace on Sunday.”
