Thierry Henry has warned Anthony Martial that it is time for the striker to perform consistently for Manchester United.

The French forward has found his first-team opportunities to be somewhat restricted this season since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager last summer.

Martial made just his 14th Premier League start of the season for Manchester United on Thursday night against Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has had to be patient for his chances to impress in the 2016-17 campaign after initially bursting onto the scene under Louis van Gaal last term.

And Arsenal legend Henry wants to see Martial perform on a consistent basis for the Red Devils and establish himself as a regular under Mourinho.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Thursday night, Henry said: “Yes, Martial had a good game against Burnley [the 2-0 win at Turf Moor last weekend] but we want to see that on a daily basis.

“He has to, he plays for Manchester United… he has to perform. He needs to show every time that he deserves to play.”

Martial will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
