Gary Neville has claimed that Anthony Martial’s performance for Manchester United against Burnley on Sunday proves that the striker has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford.

The French striker has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Old Trafford this season following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as manager last summer.

Indeed, Martial has been limited to just 13 starts in the Premier League this season and has been in and out of the team for most of the campaign.

However, the 21-year-old earned plenty of praise for his man of the match display at Turf Moor on Sunday, as he scored one goal and set up another in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win.

And former Manchester United defender Neville believes that showing proves that Martial has the ingredients needed to be a hit at Old Trafford.

Neville told Sky Sports: “There was a stat that came up that did done the most sprints (71) in the game, which is the most he has done this season.

“It was the most he has done in his Manchester United career. That tells you the reaction is there. The capability to show the work-ethic is there.”
