Gary Neville has told Jose Mourinho not to prioritise between the Premier League and Europa League as Manchester United chase a positive end to the season.

The Red Devils have been in good form in recent weeks and booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals last week by beating Anderlecht.

Mourinho’s men have also improved in the Premier League of late and have beaten Chelsea and Burnley in their last two games to leave them just a point outside the top four in the table.

The Portuguese coach will be wanting to make sure that his side are in top condition when they take on Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-finals next month, knowing that winning the competition will guarantee a route into next season’s Champions League.

However, former Manchester United defender Neville has warned Mourinho against prioritising between the two competitions this season.

Neville told Sky Sports: “I said before the game [at Burnley] that the walls are converging on Manchester United in terms of both competitions.

“They can’t rest anyone. They still have a chance [of top four]. I keep thinking in my mind that they will lose a league game and Mourinho will prioritise the Europa League in a big way.

“He can’t do that because the unbeaten run is still going. The team is playing well. Ultimately, why not [keep going in the league]? The momentum is there.”
