Gary Neville likened Marcus Rashford’s performance to Diego Costa on Sunday as Manchester United eased to a 2-0 win against Chelsea.

Rashford was handed a starting spot ahead of Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the 19-year-old repaid his manager’s faith with a dominant performance.

The Manchester United forward broke the deadlock in the seventh minute after the England international managed to escape the attentions of David Luiz and slot a finish past Chelsea number two Asmir Begovic.

Costa, on the other hand, struggled to test the Manchester United defence despite clashing with centre-halves Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo throughout the Premier League clash.

Former Manchester United defender Neville felt that Rashford produced a performance worthy of Costa at his best at Old Trafford.

“Marcus Rashford looked more like Diego Costa,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“He was not just good in terms of on the ball but his strength was amazing. N’Golo Kante rarely gets shrugged off the ball. He was brilliant, Rashford. He physically improved.”
