Jamie Redknapp: This Tottenham star is better than Man United’s Paul Pogba
The former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder hails Dele Alli as a better player than Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba
Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is worth more money than Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba.
The England international has been in scintillating form in recent weeks following the attacking midfielder’s goal in a 4-0 win against Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old has now scored 16 goals and has made five assists in 30 appearances in the Premier League to comfortably beat his 2015-15 tally.
Alli was named the 2016 PFA young player of the year thanks to his outstanding performances in his first season in the Premier League following his switch from MK Dons back in 2015.
Tottenham are seven points behind current leaders Chelsea with seven games to go in the title race.
Speaking to the Daily Mail about Alli, former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp claimed that the Tottenham midfielder is worth more money than Manchester United’s world-record signing Pogba.
“Alli worth more than Pogba: If you asked at the start of the season whether Paul Pogba or Dele Alli would be worth more come May, the Frenchman would have won every time. After a sensational campaign, Alli has eclipsed Pogba,” Redknapp said.
“If the United midfielder cost a world-record £89million, then what does that make Alli worth? He is becoming the perfect player. Alli is thriving in the free role given to him by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino. Last season he scored all but one of his goals with his right foot, now he is showing his full range of attributes.
“I love his footballing arrogance. Alli knows how good he is and, if he does not leave England he has the ability to become the best attacking midfielder in Premier League history.”
Pogba moved to Manchester United in an 89m deal from Serie A champions Juventus back in last summer’s transfer window.
Alli, on the other hand, cost Tottenham the princely sum of 5m.
