Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink predicts where Man United will finish
The former Chelsea striker believes Manchester United still have a chance of finishing in the Premier League's top four
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Manchester United can still finish in the Premier League’s top four despite a difficult run-in.
The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Premier League leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford last weekend courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera.
However, Manchester United are still four points adrift of Manchester City in fourth place as Jose Mourinho’s side face the possibility of missing out on a Champions League spot for a second successive season.
Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal at the end of the 2015-16 campaign as the Dutch coach paid the price for a disappointing fifth-placed finish.
While Manchester United have struggled in the Premier League, the Red Devils have won the EFL Cup and will take on La Liga side Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-finals.
The 20-time English champions will make the trip to Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon without their leading goal-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his knee injury.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about Manchester United’s top-four prospects, former Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker Hasselbaink said:
“You have to keep believing that you can still get in the top four. It won’t be easy. They still have to play three teams above them but it is possible.”
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Stamford Bridge last month.
