Matt Le Tissier believes that Manchester City are likely to finish ahead of Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish this season.

The Red Devils are aiming to finish in the Champions League qualification spots in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge at the club following his appointment at Old Trafford last summer.

Manchester United played out a goalless draw with Manchester City at The Etihad last week as Mourinho’s men took a step closer towards Champions League qualification.

Mourinho has also guided the Red Devils into the semi-finals of the Europa League and knows that winning that competition would secure a spot in next season’s Champions League for his team.

However, former Southampton star Le Tissier feels that Manchester City are the favourites to finish above Manchester United in the table because of their favourable fixture-list.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday, Le Tissier said: “I think with their run-in on paper (Manchester City will finish in the top four).

“It is always difficult at this time of the season with strange results. But you look at the run-ins and I still take Man City over Man United.”
