The former Manchester United striker hails Marcus Rashford's performance against Anderlecht
Michael Owen hailed Marcus Rashford’s mesmerizing performance in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Jose Mourinho opted to hand the England international a starting spot alongside the club’s leading goal-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the first leg of their quarter-final tie in Belgium.
The Red Devils striker ended his long goal drought in the Premier League last weekend with Manchester United’s third goal in a 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Sunderland.
And Rashford had a hand in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s opening goal after the England international got on the end of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s knock-down to draw a save from the Anderlecht goalkeeper before the Armenia pounced on the rebound.
The Manchester United starlet was ever-present throughout the first leg as his pace caused the home side problems in the Europa League clash.
The visitors conceded a late equaliser when Leander Dendoncker headed past Manchester United’s number two Sergio Romero in the 86th minute.
And retired England and Manchester United striker Owen hailed Rashford’s performance in the Europa League clash.
“He went inside, he went outside… I thought he was a constant thorn in Anderlecht’s side. He made runs in behind and that was Rashford as his best. The full-back marking him was pretty dizzy,” Owen told BT Sport.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table.
