Michael Owen has hailed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a phenomenal finisher but rejected the suggestion Manchester United are a one-man team.

The 35-year-old striker moved to the Red Devils in a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.

Ibrahimovic had his fair share of critics upon his arrival at Old Trafford with some suggesting the former Barcelona man could struggle to adapt to the Premier League.

However, the powerful Manchester United centre-forward has made an effortless transition from Ligue 1 to the Premier League after a return of 17 goals in 28 games.

Ibrahimovic has also scored 11 goals in their cup competitions to help Manchester United win the EFL Cup and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of Manchester United’s win against Anderlecht on Thursday night, former Red Devils star Owen spoke about Ibrahimovic’s impact at the club.

“Definitely [I’m a fan of Ibrahimovic]. How can you not be a fan of him? He’s a different type of player,” Owen said.

“What I don’t agree with is people saying it’s a one-man team and if he’s not playing where are the goals going to come from? He’s a phenomenal finisher.”
