Paul Ince has described Manchester United’s over-reliance on Zlatan Ibrahimovic as “worrying”.

The Red Devils signed the former Sweden international in a free transfer from Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

Ibrahimovic arrived in England amid doubts about his age and ability to adapt to the Premier League despite having played in La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A with great success.

The 35-year-old has emphatically answered those questions with a return of 17 goals and five assists in 27 games in the English top flight in the current campaign.

Ibrahimovic has made a significant contribution in Manchester United’s cup competitions – too, netting 11 times in the other competitions.

Writing in his Paddy Power column ahead of Manchester United’s home clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Ince said:

“Zlatan has been utterly outstanding, if you look at the goals he’s scored and took those away from United it would be interesting to see how far off the top sides they’d be.

“I’m sure he loves all the pressure of being the main man at United – that’s why Ibrahimovic is such a great player – but it’s not good that the club are so dependent on him.

“You look at the likes of ‎Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – even though he’s young – they’re all attacking players, but they’re not contributing their quota of goals. Sometimes you watch them play and think to yourself ‘if Zlatan doesn’t score, who will?”
