Paul Merson has played down comparisons between Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante ahead of Manchester United’s home clash against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils signed the world-record signing in an £89m deal from Serie A champions Juventus in the summer transfer window following Jose Mourinho’s appointment.

Pogba, though, has struggled to replicate his Serie A form in a Manchester United shirt throughout the 2016-17 season so far after a return of four goals and three assists in 27 games.

His compatriot N’Golo Kante completed a switch to Chelsea from Premier League champions Leicester City last summer after the defensive midfielder helped Claudio Ranieri’s men to win the title.

The former Foxes star has impressed in Antonio Conte’s Blues side to help the Premier League leaders to move seven points clear of their closest title rivals.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester United record signing Pogba, former Arsenal midfielder Merson tipped the Red Devils star to find his feet at Old Trafford.

“Pogba will be a success. At the moment he’s a young kid carrying a big price tag. You judge him next season and if he has a shocker then it’s different,” Merson said.
