Gary Neville felt that Manchester United missed Paul Pogba in their goalless draw with Manchester City in the derby on Thursday night.

The France international was forced to sit out the trip to The Etihad due to a hamstring problem following a demanding schedule over the past couple of months.

Manchester United struggled to retain the ball during the derby clash as Manchester City dominated the possession despite failing to find a way past David De Gea.

The Red Devils brought in world-record signing Pogba in an 89m deal from Serie A champions Juventus back in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has endured a mixed first season in the Premier League following a return of four goals and three assists in 29 appearances in the current campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Pogba’s absence during Manchester United’s goalless draw with Manchester City, Neville said: “They missed Paul Pogba.

“The first pass when they won the ball back, he would have had the arrogance and bit more composure to get it in midfield, turn someone, pass it a team-mate and maybe get it back.

“He showed a little bit of arrogance at Burnley. He hasn’t achieved what everyone thought he would achieve in his first season.”
