Michael Owen: The Man United star who really disappointed me against Anderlecht
Michael Owen was not impressed by Paul Pogba's overall performance for Manchester United against Anderlecht on Thursday night
Michael Owen says he was very disappointed with Paul Pogba’s display in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Pogba played the full match as Jose Mourinho’s men needed extra-time to book their place in the last four of Europe’s second tier club competition.
The French midfielder’s brilliant pass was a key part of the build-up to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s opener at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
However, former Manchester United striker Owen says he was left unimpressed by Pogba’s overall showing for the Red Devils on Thursday aside from his contribution to the opening goal.
Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Owen said: “I thought Paul Pogba’s part in the first goal was brilliant but I’m afraid I thought that’s all he did really tonight.
“I was really disappointed with the amount of touches he was taking tonight.”
Pogba will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a trip to Burnley.
Manchester United head into this weekend’s round of games in fifth place in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish.
