Roy Keane: What Man United striker Marcus Rashford needs to improve
The former Manchester United captain delivers his honest verdict on teenager Marcus Rashford
Roy Keane has warned Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford needs to improve his finishing.
The Red Devils eased to a 2-1 extra-time win against Belgian side Anderlecht in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at Old Trafford.
Manchester United made the breakthrough in the first half thanks to Rashford’s low cross which found Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who placed a finish past the Anderlecht goalkeeper.
The visitors equalised before half-time and Rashford wasted a number of chances to book their place in the Europa League last four in normal time.
Rashford made amends in extra-time when the England international scored a superb solo goal in the 107th minute to secure a 2-1 win.
Former Manchester United captain Keane delivered his honest verdict on the 19-year-old striker Rashford.
“It was just as well that Rashford scored the winner because you would have been waiting for him in the dressing room after the chances he missed,” Keane told ITV Sport.
“In his defence, he is still learning. Rashford’s pace is outstanding and he is getting into positions because of his pace and getting chances, but he needs to improve his finishing.”
Rashford has scored five goals and has made one assist in 26 appearances in the Premier League.
The England striker netted eight times in 18 games in his first season in 2015-16 campaign.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table.
