Roy Keane: This Man United striker needs to make the right decisions
The Manchester United legend explains how Marcus Rashford can improve his finishing
Roy Keane says Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford needs to start making the right decisions in front of goal.
The England international scored a 107th-minute winner in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Belgian side Anderlecht in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
Rashford has struggled in front of goal in the 2016-17 season under Jose Mourinho after the teenager’s electric start to his career at Manchester United.
The 19-year-old scored eight times in 18 games under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s most-exciting talent.
The Manchester United striker has netted 10 goals in 47 games in all competitions in a demanding 2016-17 campaign for the 20-time English champions.
Speaking to ITV Sport about Rashford’s finishing, former Manchester United captain Keane had some advice for the England teenager.
“People keep talking about his attitude on and off the pitch and an area of his game he has to improve on is his finishing,” Keane said.
“When a player is that quick, they just depend on their pace all the time, but they have to practice and get used to making the right decisions.
“He has to get more shots on target. The one time he does get it on target, he scores the goal.”
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table and four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
