Guillem Balague has revealed that Jose Mourinho has told Real Madrid to forget about signing Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils shot-stopper has regularly been linked with a move to the Champions League holders over the past three or four seasons.

De Gea was on the brink of a move to Real Madrid in the 2015 before the deal fell through on La Liga’s summer transfer deadline day.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has won Manchester United’s player of the year award in the past three seasons.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Real Madrid’s reported interest in the Manchester United number one, Balague insisted Mourinho won’t sell De Gea.

“The first preference is David De Gea, but Jose Mourinho has sent a message to Real that he doesn’t want to sell his goalkeeper, so that’s where we stand at the moment,” Balague said.

De Gea moved to Manchester United in a big-money deal from Atletico Madrid under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Red Devils are in fifth place in the Premier League table but four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

Manchester United will host Chelsea in their next Premier League game.
